A skin treatment is a professional, skin-health–focused service customized by a licensed Professional Skin Therapist (PST) based on your individual skin needs. Dermalogica uses the term “skin treatment” intentionally to emphasize clinical assessment, customization, and skin health outcomes rather than a one-size-fits-all or purely indulgent facial experience.
Frequency depends on your skin condition and goals, but Dermalogica encourages making professional skin treatments a regular part of care. Many clients benefit from quarterly treatments, with your PST determining the most appropriate schedule for maintaining long-term skin health.
Your PST will assess your skin using professional analysis tools (such as Face Mapping), along with a review of your skin history and goals. Based on this assessment, they’ll recommend a targeted treatment and supporting home care routine designed specifically for your skin.
Many treatments can be adapted for sensitive skin, but conditions such as active inflammation, eczema, rosacea, or other medical concerns require a cautious, individualized approach. Always disclose your full skin and health history so your PST can recommend safe options or refer you to a medical professional when appropriate.
At‑home products and professional skin treatments work together. Daily home care is essential for maintaining skin health, but professional skin treatments offer advanced techniques, professional-grade products, and in-clinic modalities that cannot be replicated at home. Your PST will guide you on how professional treatments and home care work together to support your skin goals.
Sensation and downtime vary by treatment type and individual skin. Some treatments are relaxing with no downtime, while others may cause temporary redness or sensitivity. Your PST will explain what to expect, including aftercare and recovery considerations, before your appointment.
Preparation and aftercare depend on the specific treatment. Common guidance may include arriving with clean skin, avoiding certain active products beforehand, and prioritizing gentle care and daily SPF afterward. Always follow the pre- and post-treatment instructions provided by your PST for optimal results and skin safety.
Some treatments and ingredients are not recommended during pregnancy. Inform your PST if you are pregnant so they can design a pregnancy-safe treatment plan and advise on any ingredient or service restrictions.
Treatment length varies by service and location, but most professional skin treatments range from approximately 30 to 90 minutes. For specific timing, availability, and pricing, contact your local Dermalogica treatment center or speak with a PST.
If you’ve had recent cosmetic procedures or injectables, always inform your Professional Skin Therapist before booking a skin treatment. Your PST will advise on appropriate timing and treatment options.
